A lot of the top models are compatible with smartphones. Look for an app that allows you to save maps, create schedules and select cleaning options.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The black and gloss gunmetal Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is among the most impressive mop and robot vacuum combos available. It uses lidar to navigate, and create maps of floors and rooms (even multiple levels), and works with the free Eufy Clean application that lets you set up schedules and modify the behavior of the S1.

The S1 was capable of mapping my downstairs quickly, robotvacuummops which has flooring in the kitchen, dining area and bathrooms, as well as medium-pile and a large rug. It easily drove close to walls without crashing into them and even managed to traverse raised room thresholds with no problem, but it sometimes had trouble navigating down the stairs in one pass. The S1 did a good job cleaning hard floors. Its mop moved smoothly on its flat side and raised itself when it was near carpets or rugs.

The docking station of the S1 automatically empties its trash bin and replenishes its onboard water tank with clean, ozonated water prior to each mopping session. The dock also adds a cleaning solution into the water for deep cleaning. The S1's tank of water holds enough water for around a dozen cleaning sessions before it has to be emptied, though this will vary depending on how much you use the mop.

Like all 2-in-1 robots the S1 requires regular maintenance to ensure it is operating well. It is necessary to regularly wash out the tank that has been contaminated to keep it from becoming blocked. It is also necessary to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to keep them from getting blocked by dirt or dust. But, overall, the S1 is simple to maintain, especially compared to other combinations which require more effort to maintain.

1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete

Ecovacs' all-in-one robotic vacuum and mop is a powerful solution for your cleaning requirements. The Ecovacs robot vacuum has 8,700Pa of suction, and comes with many unique features, including full home mapping, voice control and smart path-planning that avoids obstructions and cleans furniture. The mopping capabilities of the robot are impressive. Rotating mops actually lift the floor and scrub it instead of just dragging a pad across the surface. The mops can also be cleaned and dried at the base station, if required.

This robot combo has an easy interface that guides you through the process. It comes with an electric hand vacuum that can be recharged to reach those areas the robot can't reach as well as two water tanks that are automatically empty and replenished whenever needed. It also comes with a variety of settings that can be used to fine tune your cleaning preferences.

The Deebot X2 Combo Complete is a good vacuum cleaner. It has a strong suction that is able to easily remove dirt and other debris that other robots struggle with. Its navigation capabilities are pretty good, although it can be stuck on small area mats and rugs at my home (which you can mitigate by defining virtual boundaries in the app). Mopping capabilities are very good, with a pair spinning mops which can lift and scrub the floor instead of moving the pad across it. The mops can also be cleaned using heated water and dried in the basestation as required. The mops can also be filled at the top of the station when required.

1. Dreame X40 ultra

Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year however their latest top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop has even more impressive features. It has outstanding cleaning performance and hands-free maintenance, making it a clear contender for our best robot vacuum and mop list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a longer side brush ensure a thorough, customised clean.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, getting rid of both large and fine debris. It is equally effective on hard floors and carpets. It was able to clean the dirtiest areas of our tests well, avoiding pet hairs and other dirt. The sweeping performance of the machine is boosted by a sidebrush that automatically swings out in order to get into areas that are difficult to reach and mop pads that extend along baseboards.

Its navigation is smart that can navigate tiny spaces and negotiating stairs without stepping back. It can move from one room to another without reversing direction, which is a handy feature for homes with many rooms. Its obstacle avoidance is less advanced than some competitors, and leaves a huge space between obstacles. This could lead to miss-hit spots.

Its app has a streamlined and intuitive interface that will be easy for both novice and experienced users. The app lets you plan and manage cleanings, change the suction power and mopping settings, view 2D and 3D maps, and more. It can be controlled via the app, Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri, allowing you to monitor its progress from anywhere. You can also use the X40 Ultra's camera remotely to get real-time video supervision. You'll need a stable internet connection to use it via the app as well as external controls.

A robot vacuum can do a fantastic job of removing debris and dirt but it's not always able to reach every last particle of dust. Roborock's Q5 Pro, a 2-in-1 robot that both vacuums and mop, is designed to do exactly that. It comes with a smart app that lets you schedule cleaning and determine the floor type. It also comes with an automatic water tank filling and washing system that is hands-free.

The mops are also quite impressive, with 2700Pa of power to take on dust, dirt, and pet hair on carpets and hard floors. The Q5 is among the few robots we tested that didn't have any problems with carpets with high piles or area rug, but it was unable to clean up cat litter or cable tangles, which is no surprise considering it doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance.

K10 Plus is the quietest robot vacuum we've ever tested. It also uses a unique mapping system that lets it reach tight corners and corners that other vacuums cannot. The device also stores dust in a bigger dustbin which means you need empty it less frequently. Furthermore, it comes with washable filters that further lower the costs associated with using the device. This robot can detect carpets, and increase suction if needed.
